DESTINO
Destino is an animated short film by Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney. They started this collaboration in 1945 but because WWII and Disney facing financial hardships, the short was never released. Walt Disney’s nephew came across the short when he was working on Fantasia in 2000 and decided to release it. It was released in 2003. I LOVE short films (esp the one of the old man playing chess), but this one in particular could be interpreted in so many different ways. The animation is beautiful and the story is so complex and sad. One of my favorites.

The Double Life of Véronique
The Double Life of Véronique is a 1991 French-Polish-Norweigan drama directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski, a Polish scriptwriter and film director. It explores human intuition through two main characters, Weronika and Véronique. The life of a French woman is mirrored by a Polish woman. They have never met before, but have a very eery connection which has affected both of their lives. It’s a very beautiful movie and reminded me that even though we are all unique and experience life differently, there’s still a strong sense of interconnectedness between us.
